Opening its tour of Gloucestershire in February 2019, asimplelife tells the story of 21-year-old Grace, a fresh university graduate who doesn't know what's next for her. Overwhelmed by the pressures and expectations of modern day society, we see her face a huge array of insecurities. The play looks into how social media compels young people to compare their lives to others' and how dangerous that can be. It explores everything from body image to romantic relationships, from travelling the world to professional success.

Audiences of the initial tour reviewed the show as relatable, relevant and thought-provoking, with many suggesting it could be a great TIE piece, educating young people about mental health issues and helping them to be more aware of the potential causes.

When Mental Health Awareness week came around in October 2019, Moya did just that and took the show to St. George's British International School in Munich to perform to the students. One of the teachers commented that it looked at some very relevant issues for all age groups and was a wake up call for me to see what the students are exposed to and the pressures they experience. It was also mentioned that the show prompted many great discussions between the students and two girls came forward with some issues that really needed attention.

BBC Radio Gloucestershire Interview

While promoting the initial tour, Producer Eliott Sheppard managed to get Moya Jane Productions an interview with David Smith on BBC Radio Gloucestershire. Catch the full interview here:

It was brilliant! I cried in it as well because it hit very close to home and it's very relatable too. Highly recommend!

- Gemma Beard

A lovely modern performance on the realities.. or lack of reality, on today’s society. An upcoming age of social media dominance and the effects on mental health. Very eye opening and scarily true to personal experiences.

Megan Lewis

It was honestly amazing! Everything she said I related to, and it's really made me think about social media.

- Caitlin Gallagher

Due to the coronavirus outbreak in 2020 and the subsequent closure of theatres, Moya wanted to do her bit to keep theatre alive following the movement of 'The Shows Must Go Online'.

Moya would like to thank SOS Film Photography Sound for filming the production, back in February 2019. Due to copyright reasons, some amendments have been made to the audio.
